answer text <p>GOV.UK Verify is already accepting registrations. Citizens have been able to verify their identities in order to access government services since 14 October 2014. Since then, GOV.UK Verify has been used more than 1 million times, with 945,000 identity accounts verified so far.</p><p>Work on the two main local authority trials - relating to residents’ parking permit services applications and older people’s concessionary travel - started in October and November 2016 respectively. Both trials are currently in their user research and design phases; the build and testing of prototypes will start in February 2017. GOV.UK Verify expects the first local authority councils to connect to its platform in summer 2017.</p> more like this

In November this year the FCA released the summary findings of the skilled person’s report it commissioned to investigate these allegations. answer text <p>The government has established a National Productivity Investment Fund (NPIF) to provide £23bn of additional spending between 2017/18 and 2021/22. Every penny spent by the UK government is explicitly earmarked for areas that are critical to boosting productivity: economic infrastructure (transport and digital communications), Research and Development (R&amp;D), and housing.</p><p> </p><p>Further details about specifically how and where this money will be invested will be set out by the relevant departments and agencies in due course.</p><p> </p><p>Where spending on measures within the NPIF does not extend to Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, the devolved administrations will receive funding through the Barnett formula in the usual way.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>On 8 November, the Chancellor of the Exchequer and Home Secretary updated the House on the work of the cross-agency taskforce that was set up to analyse and take action on the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Consortium_of_Investigative_Journalists" target="_blank">International Consortium of Investigative Journalists</a> (<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICIJ" target="_blank">ICIJ</a>)’s <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panama_Papers" target="_blank">Panama Papers</a> data leak.</p><p> </p><p>As part of this update, they confirmed that HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) had opened civil and criminal investigations into 22 individuals for suspected tax evasion, and has placed 43 high net worth individuals under special review while their links to Panama are further investigated.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC will engage the relevant prosecuting authorities to bring any identified wrongdoing before the courts. On 7 December, it confirmed that two arrests had been made as part of a criminal investigation involving the use of a number of offshore companies to disguise the beneficial ownership of UK property.</p><p> </p><p>As stated previously, Parliament will be kept updated on any significant developments.</p>
