answer text
The Government has not made an estimate of the National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates for these age groups for each year until 2020.

The Government asks the Low Pay Commission to make NMW rate recommendations each year based on maximising the wages of the low paid without damaging employment opportunities. The Low Pay Commission will recommend the October 2016 NMW rates and indicative rates for 2017 by the end of February 2016.

more like this

answer text
We selected these headteachers to work with us on this issue because of the high quality of provision of PSHE education in their schools. The group of headteachers and practitioners that we are currently working with includes Carl Ward of Haywood Academy in Stoke on Trent; Cathie Paine of the Reach2 Academy Trust; Jerry Rayner of Rugby Independent School in Warwickshire; Michelle Colledge-Smith of the Outwood Grange Academy Trust; and Vanessa Ogden of Mulberry School in Bethnal Green.

The group has not been asked to advise the Government on the content of PSHE. Their focus is to produce an action plan and recommendations for improving the quality of PSHE teaching. We want to draw on expertise from a range of headteachers and practitioners and will invite others to join the group as appropriate. The Department regularly speaks to a wide range of stakeholders and will continue to do so regarding PSHE.
more like this

answer text
We have tightened the rules on temporary release, particularly in relation to those with a serious offending history and, in 2014, the number of breaches of temporary release fell by 39%. This is the lowest failure rate since 2002. Release on Temporary Licence is not automatic. Release must be justified in terms of the offender’s sentence plan and particular care is taken in considering applications for temporary release at Christmas. Last year, 98% of prisoners remained in prison on Christmas Day.

The offences committed by the 291 prisoners with a principal offence in the violence against the person category of offences, and who were on temporary release on 25 December 2014, were as follows:

Offence

Number

Violence against the person

291

Murder

74

Attempted murder

6

Making threats to kill

*

Conspire, aid or incite murder

*

Manslaughter

10

Death by reckless driving

16

Wounding (inflicting GBH)

158

Assault occasioning ABH

*

Other assault

*

Possess firearms with intent

13

Other violence against the person

6

Data sources and quality

The figures in these tables have been drawn from administrative IT systems which, as with any large scale recording system, are subject to possible errors with data entry and processing.
