answer text <p>The Government has issued a surveillance camera code of practice under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. This sets out 12 guiding principles to be considered by any organisation using overt CCTV in public places in England and Wales. Those guiding principles include encouraging CCTV system operators to: work to relevant operational, technical and occupational standards; to use their systems in the most effective way to support public safety and law enforcement with the aim of processing images and information of evidential value, and; to review the use of such a CCTV system on a regular basis. To encourage compliance with the code of practice, we have appointed the Surveillance Camera Commissioner who has published a self assessment tool for CCTV operators and is finalising advice on a suite of standards which can be followed as good practice.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Local authorities and the Environment Agency currently have powers to seize vehicles and property under the Control of Pollution (Amendment) Act 1989.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We are currently consulting on proposals to commence similar powers under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 and introduce new regulations, setting out revised procedures in respect of the stop, search and seizure of vehicles suspected of being involved in waste crime, including fly-tipping and illegal dumping of waste. The revised procedures will make it easier for local authorities and the Environment Agency to exercise the powers in order to identify who is responsible for committing waste offences. Subject to the outcome of the consultation we plan to make the Commencement Order and lay the revised regulations in March this year.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

As part of this, the Department consults with the Devolved Administration eHealth leads to exchange best practice on the use of technology within the National Health Service. This is facilitated via the United Kingdom eHealth Forum which includes representatives from the Northern Ireland Department of Health Social Services and Public Safety. answer text <p>“Women in Engineering” is one of a number of calls under the Employer Ownership Fund that have been run in response to recommendations from the Perkins review of engineering skills. A nominal maximum budget of £10m was allocated to the “Women in Engineering” call, but it was not as successful as the other calls in attracting bids - there were only two successful applications which have been awarded a total of £104, 320, of which £12,288 is expected to be drawn down this year.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>There is no underspend of the Employer Ownership budget which is fully allocated for FY2014/15. All unallocated funds from calls that have closed have been assigned to new calls that will also address the recommendations of the Perkins review such as the current call aimed at improving engineering skills in smaller companies.</p><p> </p> more like this
