This includes a College of Policing training package on stalking, which was completed 56,748 times between October 2012 and 30 September 2014 by police officers and staff in England and Wales, and continues to be available.<br><br>Neither the College of Policing nor the Home Office holds information which breaks this figure down by the number of police officers and staff in England and Wales that have completed the training.<br><br>In 2013-14, 743 prosecutions were commenced under the new stalking legislation. This is a significant increase from 2012-13 and shows that the legislation is taking effect. <br><br>We are also working with the police and Crown Prosecution Service to raise awareness and improve professional knowledge. <br><br>To ensure prosecutors’ knowledge is continuously refreshed, in April 2014, the CPS launched a specific e-learning module on stalking which focused on victim support, working with the police and ensuring a strong case is built from the start. The College of Policing is also undertaking a review of how stalking incidents are investigated by the police. This will include how the police understand what constitutes a course of conduct in policing, how the police support victims, and further training on the appropriate use of Police Information Notices.<br><br>Since April 2014, offences of stalking and harassment are being reported separately in Police Recorded Crime figures. This will allow us to monitor the impact of the legislation more effectively. <br><br>Convicted stalkers will already be captured on the Police National Computer. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/10/2014 answer text <p>The Home Office collects data on the number of crimes recorded by the police but not how many complaints the police receive. <br><br>Prior to 1 April 2014, offences relating to stalking recorded by the police were included in the offence classification of harassment and cannot be <br>identified separately. From the 1 April 2014 these offences have been supplied to the Home Office as a separate classification of stalking. Therefore data are only available for the months April to June 2014, when the police recorded 695 offences. We deplore all religious and racially-motivated attacks. <br><br>Between 2012-13 and 2013-14 recorded race hate crime increased by 4% (an increase of 1,595 offences), and religious hate crime by 45% (an increase of 700 offences). The increase in recorded hate crime shows that more victims are coming forward and that the police are improving the way they identify hate crimes, and we welcome this.<br><br>While religious hate crime data is not broken down by type, monthly police recorded crime data for racially or religiously aggravated offences show an increase following the murder of Lee Rigby in May 2013. <br><br>The Community Safety Trust monitors levels of antisemitism. Their most recent report, published at the end of July covering the period of January to June 2014, highlights that there has been a 36% increase in the number of antisemitic incidents recorded compared to the same period in 2013 (304 incidents in 2014, compared to 223 in 2013).<br><br>When these events occur it is vital that the police take action to engage effectively with communities. Police forces in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland have recently been issued with new guidance for dealing with hate crimes, which includes advice on dealing with incidents and how to monitor and deal with community tensions.<br><br>We have established working groups to tackle antisemitism and anti-Muslim hatred which bring together community representatives and experts from across government to help explore issues affecting these communities.<br><br>Our cross-government action plan brings together the work of a wide range of departments and agencies under three core principles: to prevent hate crimes happening in the first place; to increase reporting and victims’ access to support; and to improve the operational response to hate crimes.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> answering member constituency Lewes answering member printed Norman Baker question first answered 30/10/2014 11:46:32 answering member 28 label Biography information for Norman Baker

All forces have access to the National Hash Set Database which houses images seen and categorised by UK forces. We are developing a national capability for collecting, assessing and storing indecent images of children (IIOC) for law enforcement agencies. This capability will also be used to provide hash set data to the internet industry, to allow them to remove these appalling images from their networks.
