star this property answer text <p>The Parole Board is an independent body with the statutory power to direct the release of recalled prisoners, indeterminate sentence prisoners whose tariff has expired and those determinate sentence prisoners who are subject to discretionary release arrangements.</p><p> </p><p>Once the Parole Board has directed release, the Secretary of State must give effect to the direction. Exceptionally, the Secretary of State can apply to the High Court to have a Parole Board release direction quashed if he considered it to be irrational although to date he has not sought to do so.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Ofgem, the regulator for the gas and electricity markets, administers two schemes that assist customers wishing to connect to the gas grid.</p><p>All households are eligible for the Domestic Load Connection Allowance if they are situated within 23 metres of an existing gas distribution network. The cost of the first ten metres of connection on public land is borne by the gas network operator.</p><p>The Assisted Gas Connection Scheme is aimed at consumers who live in fuel poverty. Ofgem announced earlier this year that they would continue with the scheme for the 2013-2021 price control period, with an objective to connect 80,000 new vulnerable households to the gas network. The amount of money available for each connection is capped at a level set by Ofgem to ensure cost-effectiveness of the scheme.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We are supporting the continued peace talks between the Burmese government and ethnic armed groups and the agreement to work towards a nationwide ceasefire and political dialogue. However, we remain concerned by continued fighting in Kachin State and Northern Shan State, and reports of human rights violations.</p><p>I discussed the peace process with the Burmese government and the military Commander in Chief during my visit to Burma in January 2014, and in Kachin with the army's Northern Commander and ethnic and religious leaders. Our Ambassador in Rangoon regularly raises both our concerns and our support for a sustainable peace through ceasefire and political dialogue with Burmese government ministers, officials and ethnic leaders.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>A person who has been deported faces a mandatory refusal of entry under Paragraph 320(2) of the Immigration Rules until or unless the deportation order is revoked by the Secretary of State. This is generally not considered until a minimum of ten years have elapsed. <br><br>A person may be extradited from the UK to stand trial or to serve a sentence. This information is taken into account in decisions whether to grant or refuse re-entry to the UK. Where there is an overseas conviction entry will be considered in accordance with Paragraph 320(2) of the Immigration Rules, which provide for a mandatory refusal depending on the age and seriousness of the sentence imposed. <br><br>In addition, where an individual is a threat to national security, the Secretary of State may exercise her discretion to personally exclude that person from the United Kingdom.</p><p> </p> more like this
