The statistics are experimental and as such we should not expect to have examples of major policies that have been heavily influenced by the wellbeing data at this stage.</p><p>Evidence provided to the Environmental Audit Committee for its Inquiry into Wellbeing can be found at: <a href="http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/environmental-audit-committee/inquiries/parliament-2010/well-being/" target="_blank">http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/environmental-audit-committee/inquiries/parliament-2010/well-being/</a></p><p>The evidence submitted by the Department is outlined in Annex A, and demonstrates the impact of our policies and programmes – including our labour market reforms and support for Higher and Further Education – on wellbeing. Since submitting that evidence, we have also commissioned research to develop a comprehensive evidence base on the link between employees' wellbeing and business performance. The findings will feed into future policy development on wellbeing at work, as well as the development of an on-line guide providing suggestions on methods for improving wellbeing in the workplace. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/06/2014 answer text <p>As the Prime Minister has said “<em>we'll start measuring our progress as a country not just by how our economy is growing, but by our quality of life</em>.”</p><p> </p><p>The National Wellbeing Index and Measures of Wellbeing provides a rich contribution to the debate about the health and happiness of the people of the United Kingdom.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>These are relatively new statistical series, meaning that the evidence base on wellbeing, and the implications for policy making, are still being developed. The ONS Wellbeing statistics released on the 4<sup>th</sup> June made a helpful contribution to this debate. They revealed for example, that those households that receive more of their income from benefits are more likely to have lower life satisfaction. The statistics are experimental and as such we should not expect to have examples of major policies that have been heavily influenced by the wellbeing data at this stage.</p><p> </p><p>Since the introduction of the ONS framework for measuring National Wellbeing in 2011, DCMS has worked closely with the ONS to introduce sport and culture participation measures within ONS' national wellbeing headline measures for adults (May 2013). In January this year, measures of sport and culture were also included within ONS' initial national child wellbeing measures. DCMS' National Statistic ‘Taking Part', on culture and sport engagement, has measured subjective wellbeing since 2005/06. In 2012 ONS' subjective wellbeing questions were also added to support further analysis of wellbeing impacts.</p><p> </p><p>Our policies of ‘Getting more people playing sport' and ‘Supporting vibrant and sustainable arts and culture' are directly linked to ONS' national wellbeing measurement. DCMS continues to work to better understand and consider the impact of its sectors and policy on people's wellbeing across a number of the domains in ONS' national wellbeing measures including health, education, crime and unemployment. The Department of Communities and Local Government aims to create great places to live and work, and give more power to local people to shape what happens in their area. As such, many of the Department's policies are aligned with the wellbeing agenda. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/06/2014 answer text <p>The National Wellbeing Index contains two measures directly related to DECC's priorities: “Energy consumed within the UK from renewable sources” and “Total greenhouse gas emissions”, where latest data shows the positive impact being made by DECC. For example in 2013, provisional data shows 15% of electricity being produced from renewable sources – a new high. To provide further support for renewable and other forms of low carbon generation DECC is implementing Electricity Market Reform, in particular provisions for Feed-in-Tariffs with Contracts for Difference. Nonetheless public interest is at the forefront of all our policy development, and therefore is often designed to improve aspects of wellbeing. For example, we have a major programme of reform that we are implementing to transform the way we rehabilitate offenders. These important reforms mean that we are turning around the lives of offenders, delivering value for the taxpayer while protecting victims and making our communities safer.</p><p>We have also made reforms to the family justice system focusing primarily on promoting the wellbeing of children and supporting separating parents.
