Eleven demonstration vehicles are currently being manufactured and will then undergo a rigorous trials programme, culminating in live 'firing on the move'. The complex nature of the programme has led to significant engineering and technical challenges. The cost of aircraft to be procured in future contracts is still to be negotiated.
