answer text <p>We have always said that there will be transitional protection for those claimants with existing premiums whose overall Universal Credit entitlement would be less than under the old system, provided that their circumstances remain the same. We are bringing forward regulations in the Autumn which make provision for this and we have recently announced that we will introduce additional protections for claimants who currently receive the Severe Disability Premium.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The most recent month of data available is May 2018.</p><p> </p><p>In the period June 2017- May 2018, there were 25,697 awards of Funeral Expenses Payments in Great Britain. This includes awards made after review, reconsideration or appeal following an initially unsuccessful application.</p><p> </p><p>In the period June 2017 – May 2018, there were 14,680 initially unsuccessful applications for Funeral Expenses Payments in Great Britain. The number of initially unsuccessful applications is not equal to number of people who unsuccessfully apply for a Funeral Expenses Payment, as individuals may make multiple applications in a given time period.</p><p> </p><p>Applications that were initially unsuccessful may have resulted in an award after review, reconsideration or appeal. As a result some applications may be counted in both of the above figures.</p><p> </p><p>Figures are drawn from the Social Fund Policy, Budget, and Management Information System. The figures do not include applications that were processed clerically and have not been entered on to the Social Fund Computer System.</p>

answer text <p>Through our Universal Support programme, the Department provides support for claimants with budgeting, or with using digital services.</p><p> </p><p>Support is delivered through local partners, and we also work with a range of stakeholders to ensure claimants can access other forms of support including housing, debt advice, low energy tariffs and passported benefits.</p><p> </p><p>We also have a freephone helpline for Universal Credit claimants who need help to make and maintain their claim, and they can also receive help in a jobcentre. Additionally, a home visit can also be arranged.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Interviews for the Universal Credit Full Service survey were conducted with claimants between March 2017 and September 2017.</p><p> </p><p>Since then, in response to evidence and feedback, DWP continues to make changes to improve the experience to claimants. For example, since 28th February 2018, Universal Credit claimants have been able to upload digital copies of their childcare cost receipts or invoices through their online Universal Credit account. Improvements in Universal credit IT have also meant that most claimants reporting their in month childcare costs are not asked to provide further evidence and are paid automatically with their UC award.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We are committed to supporting disabled people and continue to review the Universal Credit claimant experience and processes.</p><p> </p><p>Earlier this month we announced that claimants in receipt of the Severe Disability Premium will qualify for transitional protection when they move to Universal Credit.
