answer text <p>The Real Time Information (RTI) system ensures that we get Universal Credit claims right by providing us with accurate and timely details of earnings and occupational pension payments from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs’. The HMRC database holding the PAYE data reported in real time (RTI) receives the data from employers, holds it and passes on relevant data for Universal Credit claimants to DWP.</p><p> </p><p>The system is working well with over 99% of individual employment records now being reported in real time. We don’t collect data on the number of claims affected by errors resulting from the real-time information system. However, only a small proportion of the 1% of remaining cases are referred to HMRC to clarify those earnings with the employer</p><p> </p><p>DWP work closely with HMRC to investigate any risks associated with RTI data, and jointly deal with disputes arising when claimants query their reported earnings. As DWP receives copies of the data submitted by employers the risk of data corruption within HMRC is regarded as minimal. However, DWP and HMRC continually monitor the data and no significant problems have been identified.</p><p> </p><p>A number of processes are in place to deal with inaccurate data from employers. DWP and HMRC analysts monitor the RTI data received, looking for trends, patterns and causes. Both Departments then work together with employers and partners such as software developers and payroll bureaux to improve the quality of the data. This work supplements the BACS payment validation process.</p>

answer text <p>Since the Centre for Health and Disability Assessments took over the contract to carry out assessments in March 2015, they have made a number of improvements to claimants’ experience of assessments, including:</p><p> </p><ul><li>Increasing the number of Healthcare Professionals by around 70% since the start of the contract, thereby ensuring that claimants go through the assessment process more quickly; and,</li><li>Increasing the number of assessment rooms used so that they can see more people at more locations.</li></ul><p> </p><p>As a result of these improvements, the time taken from referral to the supplier to the claimant receiving a face-to-face Work Capability Assessment has more than halved since the start of the contract.</p> more like this

answer text <p><strong> </strong></p><p>We are intending to publish further data on payment timeliness in due course, but our latest internal data, for week ending 19 June, suggests some 80% of cases were paid in full at the end of the first assessment period.</p><p> </p><p>For the 20% of cases who were not paid in full we estimate around a third have not signed up to their claimant commitment so cannot be paid until they have. The other two thirds have an outstanding verification issue, such as providing bank statements, evidence of childcare costs, or proof of rent. Many of these claimants receive a part-payment where elements of the claim have been verified.</p> more like this

answer text <p>DWP take the security of Universal Credit very seriously, including verifying who our claimants are. We continue to work closely with Government Digital Service to support the success of the Verify online system. The high standards of ID verification achieved by Verify are used on our UC Full Service today in addition to a face-to-face alternative approach.</p><p> </p><p>We may also ask for separate documentary evidence, ask biometric questions based on data the department holds, or contact trusted third parties (such as a doctor) in order to verify a claimants identity and establish other personal and financial circumstances necessary for the processing of a Universal Credit claim.</p> more like this

A programme of work is currently underway to look into what information on ESA waiting times is available to publish as official statistics on the ESA-WCA process. When a decision has been made DWP Statisticians will pre-announce the statistics in accordance with the UKSA release protocols.</p><p> </p><p>The Labour Market statisticians are currently working on producing some published statistics based on the Median clearance times for the initial part of the customer journey.</p> more like this

answer text <p>This initiative brings together information from energy suppliers and is aimed at helping those who are vulnerable or facing difficulties in meeting energy costs.</p><p> </p><p>Birkenhead Jobcentre continues to offer the information leaflet, which details available support to claimants at appropriate stages of their benefit claim, when they meet with their Work Coach. The leaflet is also on display and available at various points within the Jobcentre. The information is made available to claimants across the full range of unemployment related benefits including Universal Credit.</p><p> </p><p>We are not able to confirm precise numbers of leaflets offered and taken up; nor on numbers of claimants availing themselves of the support. We can say, however, that claimants give positive feedback to staff.</p><p> </p><p>Following this successful trial the leaflet will be distributed across the wider Jobcentre Plus network.</p> more like this
