answer text <p>The City and Growth Deals are progressing well. Cardiff has several exciting projects in the pipeline and I was pleased to approve and visit Swansea Bay’s Pembroke Dock Marine and see the progress on Swansea’s Digital District for myself. North Wales’ Full Deal Agreement and Mid Wales’ Head of Terms are also expected by the end of the year.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We are supporting the Welsh Government as they manage localised lockdowns in Wales, including the current lockdown in the honourable Member’s constituency of Caerphilly.</p><p>We are working more closely than ever before with the Welsh Government. This will be key to stimulating the deployment of hydrogen across the UK.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, I am pleased to see that the South Wales Industrial Cluster is being supported by UK Research and Innovation’s £170m Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge, which is looking at options for decarbonising the region’s industrial base, including using hydrogen.</p><p><em> </em></p><p>My officials regularly engage with officials in other departments across the UK Government to raise awareness of the opportunities in Wales for hydrogen energy generation.</p><p><em> </em></p> more like this

answer text <p>Wales has the potential to lead in hydrogen generation technology and the UK Government is committed to ensuring that Wales plays its full part in delivering the UK’s future energy mix. I recently saw the leading role Wales can play in this area when I visited Riversimple, a hydrogen car manufacturer based in Powys.</p><p> </p><p>UK Research and Innovation also continues to support the South Wales Industrial Cluster with £170million of funding as part of the Industrial Decarbonisation challenge. The Cluster will play its part in developing options for decarbonising the region’s industrial base, including the use of hydrogen.</p><p> </p><p>I regularly discuss a range of issues with the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and earlier this month BEIS Ministers and I met with companies looking to expand hydrogen production in Wales.</p><p> </p><p>The Government aims to consult on a preferred business model for low-carbon hydrogen production in 2021.
