This Directive enables Member States to exempt vehicles manufactured or registered for the first time at least 30 years ago from periodic roadworthiness testing. The Government’s consultation response, published in September 2017, set out the decision to exempt most vehicles over 40 years old from testing, except for those which have been substantially changed. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/06/2019 answer text <p>On 31 March 2014, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) employed 4,951 full time equivalent staff compared to 5332 on 31 March 2019. The increase is largely attributable to the DVLA bringing its IT services in-house in 2015. The DVLA has also increased the number of staff working in its Drivers Medical section to cater for increases in medical notifications.</p><p> </p><p>Specific information on average processing times for customers in Northern Ireland is not readily available. The information could only be retrieved at disproportionate cost as it would require the interrogation of all vehicle-related transactions to identify those specific to Northern Ireland customers.</p><p> </p><p>All DVLA performance measures and achievement against those targets can be found in its annual report and accounts for each financial year along with relevant explanations. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/05/2019 answer text <p>No specific assessment has been made of the performance of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) following the transfer of vehicle registration and licensing services from the Driver Vehicle Agency to the DVLA.</p><p>The objective of centralisation was to ensure customers in Northern Ireland had access to the same services that were already available in GB. This includes providing customers in Northern Ireland with the facility to license their vehicles online or by telephone, as well as other online vehicle registration services.</p><p>This has now been achieved. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/12/2018 answer text <p>The Government wants to see at least 50%, and as many as 70%, of new car sales, and up to 40% of new van sales being ultra low emission vehicles (ULEVs) by 2030. The Government’s role is to set the right framework for industry to bring forward the technologies to support this transition, and to encourage people to choose the cleanest vehicles. Price parity between conventional and ultra low emission vehicles, anticipated by many to be reached in the mid 2020s, will be a key factor.</p><p> </p><p>Given the many uncertainties in the adoption of new technologies, it is challenging to project progress against future levels of ambition. However, the Government actively tracks market developments and notes that ULEVs continue to increase their share of new registrations in the UK. In Quarter 3 of 2018, the number of plug-in grant-eligible cars registered for the first time in the United Kingdom was up by over 12% on the same quarter in 2017, and by 50% on the same quarter in 2016. Growth Deals are locally led and proposals must have local support, deliver growth and represent good value for public money.
