answer text <p>Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) and Network Rail have agreed service recovery plans in place that are activated depending on the specific incident, its location on the network, destination and time of day.</p><p> </p><p>Recognising the potential impact of delays on passengers these plans will typically balance trying to get the maximum number of passengers to their destination as quickly as possible, recovering the delays whilst also attempting to ensure no further delays and obstructions are introduced across the network. There will be times that these plans need to be adapted to suit the situation and scale of the incident. As such it is important that decisions are taken by operational staff within Network Rail and GTR as they are best placed to understand the potential impact on passengers on a case by case basis.</p> more like this

Great Northern and Thameslink are currently operating an amended timetable to try to provide passengers with certainty. However, they plan to publish a new interim timetable in mid-July which is designed to bring stability to the service.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department for Transport has been in regular contact with Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), who run Thameslink and Great Northern services, about timetable reliability and passenger communication. We have made clear that the current situation is unacceptable.</p><p> </p><p>GTR plan to publish a new interim timetable in mid-July which should be much more reliable and resilient than the current timetable.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In 2016 the Civil Aviation Authority and the Department for Transport reviewed the number of safeguarded aerodromes, also consulting the then Department for Communities and Local Government. The Government has no current plans to review the number of safeguarded aerodromes. Aerodromes may request official safeguarding status from the Department for Transport at any time and the Department will consider each application received.</p><p> </p><p>In February 2018 we appointed Byron Davies as the General Aviation (GA) champion. Byron is leading important research, working with the GA community, to identify a network of strategically important airfields to help the GA sector.</p><p> </p> more like this

The measures include registration, leisure pilot test and new police powers.</p><p>The Department for Transport supports the CAA in carrying out its Dronecode safety awareness campaign. The CAA is leading a special Christmas effort with retailers and other drone industry stakeholders to remind any new drone owners of the rules. Buyers of drones this Christmas should buy from a Dronesafe approved retailer, who will provide info on safety rules at point of sale, and log onto <a href="http://www.dronesafe.uk" target="_blank">www.dronesafe.uk</a> to learn more.</p> more like this
