answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/12/2021 answer text <p>Government is directly supporting the taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) sector to transition to zero emission vehicles through the Plug in Taxi Grant (PiTG) and the Plug in Car Grant, which offset the higher upfront cost of electric vehicles. The PiTG has supported the purchase of over 5,500 vehicles across the UK.</p><p>Support has also been provided to increase the availability of charging infrastructure to meet driver needs. The Plug-In Taxi Grant offers up to £7,500 off the price of eligible purpose-built taxis, this has supported over 3,800 taxis in London, and increasing numbers in towns and cities across the UK. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/09/2020 answer text <p>The Government has provided over £20m to install dedicated chargepoints for ultra-low emission taxis and private hire vehicles across the UK to give drivers the confidence to make the transition to electric. This includes over 200 fast chargers and over 550 rapid chargers. Private hire operators are also able to take advantage of the Plug-in Car and Van Grant schemes, as well as the Electric Homecharge and Work Place Charging Schemes.
