answer text <p>The Department for International Trade (DIT) is committed to an open and honest culture that encourages employees to raise any concerns at an early stage. The Department draws upon guidance provided by the Civil Service Employee Policy Team regarding whistleblowing and raising policy concerns.</p><p>The Department will be participating in the Civil Service-wide Whistleblowing Awareness Day on 21<sup>st</sup> September to promote the procedures in place to accommodate whistleblowers and the part they play in protecting the integrity of public services. Nominated officers from DIT and across Government Departments will have a further opportunity to improve capability and share best practice at an event on 6<sup>th</sup> December.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In line with Government Policy for best practice in public sector procurement, the Department for International Trade Commercial Function seeks to undertake procurements as efficiently as possible, to minimise resources used both on Government and supplier side.</p><p> </p><p>Since the creation of the Department for International Trade in June 2016, the Commercial Function has logged 23 procurements with values above the £106,047 threshold, for advertising in the Official Journal of the European Union. Of these: two have taken over three months to procure, one has taken over six months to procure and one has taken over one year to procure. The duration of the procurement is measured from issuing the invitation to tender to awarding the contract.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In June 2016, the Department for International Trade brought together teams from the former UK Trade &amp; Investment and teams from the former Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Cabinet Office, each with their own approvals regimes. Through a period of transition, including implementation of machinery of government changes, the department has established a coherent range of processes, governing the use of consultants and temporary staff which fit within the wider Cabinet Office Controls framework and these are kept under regular review. The processes depend on the nature of the work required, its duration, the value and the risk or complexity.</p><p>The Department endeavours to minimize the use of consultants. The proportion of any such consultancy assignments that are paid at a daily rate is not available as a metric.</p> more like this
