answer text <p>The decision by the US to impose tariffs under Section 232 relates to national security concerns, and therefore does not impact on any potential free trade agreement with the United States.</p><p>I had constructive discussions with Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, and US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer when I was in the United States earlier this month on liberalising the UK-US trading relationship.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Britain is an international leader on development, and the Department for International Trade is working with Department for International Development to ensure global prosperity is at the heart of our future trade policy.</p><p>We are committed to ensuring developing countries can use trade as an engine of poverty reduction, and trade agreements play an important role in this.</p><p>In 2016, the UK's total bilateral trade with countries that receive preferential access through unilateral preferences or Economic Partnership Agreements was £58bn.</p><p>Our first priority is to deliver continuity in our trading arrangements on leaving the EU.</p><p>In the future, the Government will also explore options to expand our relationships with developing countries.</p> more like this

Member for Brent North on 27 March 2018, UIN: 133574.</p><p> </p><p>The US has granted a temporary exemption to the UK as part of the EU until 1 May. The EU will continue to make representations to the US on extending any exemption, and the UK is working with UK businesses to continue to understand the impacts that this may have.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Export Strategy will be published in the coming months and will set out measures to support businesses throughout the UK both before and after the UK leaves the EU. The terms of reference were published on 20 March, alongside a final call for business input into the strategy, to supplement evidence already gathered through a series of engagement events, including roundtables, which have taken place across the country.</p><p>We have already met representatives from the North East England Chamber of Commerce and will hold a roundtable event in the North East next month with local businesses which will identify any specific issues faced by them.</p><p>The strategy will be a strategy for the whole of the UK, and as set out in the terms of reference, covers working with other providers, including those relevant to the North East.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The agreement reached between the EU and the UK, on the terms of the implementation period sets out that the UK is to be treated as a Member State, for the purposes of international agreements during the Implementation Period.</p><p> </p><p>The agreed Implementation Period will give businesses and citizens certainty, that common rules will remain in place until the end of the period, meaning businesses will be able to trade on the same terms and have the same protections as now, up until the end of 2020.</p><p> </p> more like this
