answer text <p>The Kerry Town Ebola open access treatment unit will have a maximum capacity of 92 beds to treat patients with Ebola. As of 10 December, 52 beds are operational, including a 12-bed facility which treats Ebola patients from HMG, international healthcare workers and Sierra Leonean healthcare professionals working in UK-sponsored facilities. As of 10 December 2014, a total of 111 patients have been treated at the Kerry Town Ebola facility.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>As of 10 December 2014, 58 NHS staff have been deployed across Sierra Leone through the UK-Med register. Of these, 21 staff are currently based at the Kerry Town facility. Further volunteers may be deployed to staff this facility from early 2015. The current planned investment to construct, set up and run the Kerry Town Treatment Centre is £38 million, of which £16.2 million has been disbursed to date.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK is a strong supporter of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. The International Development Secretary recently confirmed the UK commitment of up to £1 billion to Gavi for 2016 to 2020, two months ahead of the pledging conference, to encourage other donors to step up and support Gavi to save over 5 million lives. I am, along with Ministerial colleagues, actively approaching Ministers in other governments to encourage them to commit further funding to ensure the full $7.5 billion is achieved.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>DFID, with the collaboration of UK-Med, NHS England and Department of Health, are arranging a pipeline of staff for the UK Ebola Response in Sierra Leone, using the UK International Emergency Medical Register (UKIEMR). NHS staff deployed through the UKIEMR remain employed by their NHS Trust.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>58 NHS staff have been already deployed through UKIEMR to support partners managing Ebola Treatment Centres in Sierra Leone. Some 20 NHS staff will be deployed to Sierra Leone later this month, followed by a further deployment of up to 62 staff in early 2015. Deployments beyond this point will be determined according to need. Additional NHS staff may have deployed independently to Ebola affected countries outside of the UKIEMR mechanism.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>All NHS staff deploying to Sierra Leone receive specialist pre-deployment training in addition to continued training and mentoring in-country.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>DFID is providing £7 million to support Yemen’s constitutional referendum and elections, in partnership with Yemen’s Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum, the United Nations Development Programme, and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems. No DFID funding is being provided directly to Government of Yemen.</p><p> </p><p>Our support will help to: develop a new biometric voter registry; equip polling stations; draft relevant legislation; deliver a public outreach and communications campaign; engage civil society, women, and political parties in the process and planning of the elections; and assess and manage security risks.
