That is why we introduced the Homelessness Reduction Act, the most ambitious reform to homelessness legislation in decades, on 3 of April 2018. The Act included changes to ensure that there is better support for young people, families and care leavers by ensuring that there are more opportunities to prevent or relieve homelessness.</p><p>In addition to this, we published a cross-government Rough Sleeping Strategy in August 2018, which set out an ambitious £100 million package to help people who sleep rough now and put in place the structures that will end rough sleeping once and for all. As part of the Strategy, my Department committed to developing the Young Future’s Fund - a social impact bond programme aimed at supporting vulnerable young people who are homeless or sleeping rough. This will build on the success of the Fair Chance Fund (2015-2017), which supported over 1,900 homeless young people to improve their accommodation, employment and education outcomes.</p><p>We have also put in place bespoke support for local authorities through our Homelessness Advice and Support Team, the team includes dedicated youth homelessness adviser roles which have a commitment to work with local authorities to proactively promote positive joint working across housing authorities and offering training, advice and support to all local authorities.</p><p>The Government is committed to building upon this work and to continue to bring down the number of young people without a home. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/07/2019 answer text <p>The primary responsibility for compliance with the Building Regulations, including fire safety, rests with the person carrying out the building work. This is the builder or developer. Most building work is subject to building control either by the local authority or a private approved inspector, on a spot-check basis. It is the responsibility of the building control body to take all reasonable steps to assess compliance. However, responsibility for compliance remains with the builder or developer.</p><p>On 5 July, the Government published a clarified version of Approved Document B (fire safety) to help responsible parties to understand what steps they could take to ensure that their building complies with the building regulations.</p><p>We are currently consulting on how we propose to take forward legislative reform for building and fire safety in higher-risk residential buildings implementing recommendations made by Dame Judith Hackitt’s Independent Review.</p> answering member constituency North West Hampshire answering member printed Kit Malthouse question first answered 11/07/2019 15:33:06 answering member 4495 label Biography information for Kit Malthouse

The Department has a number of policies in place to recognise the occasional circumstances in which staff might work more than their conditioned hours. These include the flexi-credit system in which staff can accrue flexi hours to allow time off at a later point should they choose to enrol in the flexi policy. They also have the chance to take TOIL (time off in lieu) for any additional time worked. Approved overtime is agreed with managers in advance and remunerated in line with our overtime policy.</p><p>The Department ensures that the requirements of the Working Time Regulations of 1998 as regards civil service working hours are adhered to and has a commitment to the well-being of our staff which aims to ensure that everyone has a good work/life balance. We want to create a working environment that allows people to flourish and thrive through positive, supportive relationships which recognise the importance of individual wellbeing, and how this may be affected by working patterns and practices.
