answer text <p><del class="ministerial">We are committed to increasing the number of police officers by 20,000 over the next three years, and West Yorkshire Police has already recruited 308 additional officers as part of the Police Uplift Programme. I am extremely grateful to those brave men and women who have signed up to join the police and keep our communities safe.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">In March 2010, West Yorkshire Police had 5,856 police officers (headcount). answer text <p><del class="ministerial">Asylum Operations regularly engage with civil society groups via stakeholder forums and often consult with civil society groups on asylum processes.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Asylum Operations first communicated with civil society groups on the proof of concept for asylum interviews on 22 September 2020. We further engaged on the 6 October 2020 and continue to gather feedback to support the development of the proof of concept. We are in the process of responding in writing to further questions already submitted from civil society groups.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The proof of concept will help establish if there is a longer-term viability. Once the proof of concept phase is complete, we will evaluate as part of ongoing engagement with civil society groups to support further development</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Of the £27 million of funds which were earmarked for domestic abuse services affected by COVID-19, government departments have as of 28 October 2020 paid out £25,129,341.</ins></p><p><ins The UK has a longstanding policy of not distinguishing between UK nationals and others in extradition proceedings.</ins></p><p> </p>

answer text <p><del class="ministerial">We believe that those who reach safe countries should stay and claim asylum without delay, rather than make further, unnecessary and often dangerous journeys in order to claim asylum in a country of their own choosing.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Illegal migration from safe countries undermines our efforts to help those most in need - controlled resettlement via safe and legal routes is the best way to protect such people and disrupt the organised crime groups that exploit migrants and refugees.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">To support these principles, the UK, the EU and other countries in the world employ legal procedures to return people to the safe countries through which they have passed. Published statistics include the police force the referral was sent to for investigation and crime recording purposes.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Data tables detailing the number of RG decisions made and their outcomes for the last five years can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/national-referral-mechanism-statistics-uk-end-of-year-summary-2019. The published data details the final outcome of an RG decision and does not take into account any previous decisions that may have been made on a particular case.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">There is no appeals process for negative RG outcomes, however an individual, or someone acting on their behalf, may request reconsideration of a negative RG decision. answer text <p><del class="ministerial">Statistics relating to the number of referrals made to the National Referral Mechanism by region is not currently published by the Single Competent Authority. Published statistics include the police force the referral was sent to for investigation and crime recording purposes.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Data tables detailing the number of RG decisions made and their outcomes for the last five years can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/national-referral-mechanism-statistics-uk-end-of-year-summary-2019. The published data details the final outcome of an RG decision and does not take into account any previous decisions that may have been made on a particular case.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">There is no appeals process for negative RG outcomes, however an individual, or someone acting on their behalf, may request reconsideration of a negative RG decision. Further detail on this can be found in the Modern Slavery Act 2015 – Statutory Guidance for England and Wales v1.02 sections 14.220 - 14.235.
