answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/11/2019 answer text <p>I am aware of instances where EU citizens who were granted leave under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) had their maiden names recorded on their digital status instead of their married names. Some EU countries, including France, issue passports that record a spouse’s family name alongside the person’s maiden name. The spouse’s name is not included in the passport’s Machine-Readable Zone, which means it is not automatically recorded and the passport does not indicate which name the applicant is using for all official purposes.</p><p>Home Office policy on names requires individuals to use one name for all official purposes. If we become aware of British unaccompanied or orphaned children or if British children are able to seek consular assistance, then we will work with the local and UK authorities to facilitate their return if feasible.</p><p>Children returning from Syria are likely to have been exposed to the conflict and to have experienced trauma. In some circumstances they may also pose national security concerns that need to be carefully managed. A range of specialised support – some of which is funded directly by the Home Office – is offered to address concerns ranging from safeguarding to national security. The government remains committed to improving the law enforcement response to fraud. This is why we requested that Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) conduct a thematic inspection on fraud to ensure our response is meeting the needs of fraud victims. The unit is staffed by Immigration Officers who provide advice on the immigration status of individuals.
