answer text <p>The Government ran two public consultations implementing the powers in the Health Service Medical Supplies (Costs) Act 2017. We consulted on changes to the statutory scheme regulations for branded medicines and on new regulations for the provision of information about health service products. We are finalising both sets of regulations which will be laid and enter into force in spring 2018.</p><p>The information Regulations include requirements in relation to special medicinal products which will ensure that the Government obtains information from all manufacturers and importers. This information will make the reimbursement arrangements for the most commonly used special medicinal products more robust.</p><p>Separately, the Government is considering how to implement its powers in the 2017 Act on the way it reimburses special medicinal products. Any proposals will be subject to consultation with relevant stakeholders.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The total number of measles cases in England was 531 in 2016 and figures for 2017 will be published in April 2018.</p><p> </p><p>Annual vaccine coverage statistics for England for 2016/17 indicate uptake of the first dose measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine at two years of age was 91.6%, a 0.3% decrease from 2015/16; the first dose MMR at five years of age reached the 95% World Health Organization (WHO) target, a 0.2% increase from 2015/16; and the second dose MMR at five years was 87.6%, a 0.6% decrease from 2015/16.</p><p> </p><p>In adopting the European Vaccine Action Plan 2015–2020, the United Kingdom, along with all 53 Member States of the WHO European Region, has committed to eliminating measles and rubella as one of the Region’s priority immunisation goals. In 2017, Public Health England convened a multi-stakeholder measles and rubella elimination group, to develop a UK-wide strategy with key recommendations for action, to ensure elimination will be sustained.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

answer text <p>The Department does not hold data relating to the take up of postnatal check-ups in general practitioner (GP) practices.</p><p> </p><p>The Care Quality Commission’s 2017 survey of women’s experiences of maternity care, found that 92% of the 17,570 respondents said the midwife had told them that they would need to arrange a postnatal check-up of their own health with their GP around six to eight weeks after the birth.</p> more like this

answer text <p>It is not possible to make a full assessment of the effect of moving pre-registration postgraduate healthcare students onto the standard loan system on student enrolment before the close of the application cycle.</p><p> </p><p>In July 2016 the Government published a revised economic impact assessment alongside the response to its consultation: Reforming healthcare education funding: creating a sustainable future workforce.</p><p> </p><p>A revised version of the original Equality Analysis, published in February 2018 to accompany the reforms to pre-registration postgraduate healthcare funding, can be found with the aforementioned documents at the following link:</p><p> </p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/changing-how-healthcare-education-is-funded" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/changing-how-healthcare-education-is-funded</a></p><p> </p><p>Following implementation of the policy, the Department will look for suitable opportunities, including through existing stakeholder forums, to monitor developments.</p><p> </p><p>In order to meet the growing need to increase the future supply of registered nurses, additional clinical placement funding was announced by the Department in August and October 2017. This will enable around 5,000 more nursing students to enter training each year from September 2018; an historic 25% increase.</p>

answer text <p>Public Health England (PHE) published its most recent evidence review on e-cigarettes and novel tobacco products on 6 February this year. It contains a chapter dedicated to heat not burn tobacco products, including suggestions for further research. PHE will publish further such evidence reviews on an annual basis.</p><p> </p><p>Heat not burn products continue to be regulated as tobacco products and their use and public awareness in the United Kingdom is low. The Department will review and consider where there are gaps in evidence for further independent research, and continues to collaborate and share knowledge both in the UK and internationally to help develop the research base and understanding of these products.</p> more like this
