answer text <p>Incentivising general practitioners through the Quality and Outcomes Framework to ensure patients receive the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) care processes will increase the number of annual foot checks delivered so that patients at risk will be picked up earlier. The latest data published in the National Diabetes Audit report shows that over 85% of all those with diabetes in England and Wales received a foot examination in 2012-13. However, there is still room for improvement.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>NHS England has launched the National Diabetes Footcare Audit (a new module to be incorporated into the National Diabetes Audit) which will enable all diabetes foot care services to measure their performance against NICE clinical guidelines and peer units.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>According to the National Diabetes Inpatient Audit, in 2011, 58.3% of trusts had a multidisciplinary foot team, and in 2013, 71.8% of trusts had one.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department’s National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) has invited researchers to apply for mesothelioma research funding, in particular to address the research questions identified through the Mesothelioma Priority Setting Partnership and published in December 2014. Eight NIHR programmes are participating in this themed call. Four funding applications for research specifically in mesothelioma are currently under review. answer text <p>The Family Test was announced by the Prime Minister in August 2014 and introduced in October 2014 through the publication of guidance for officials - Family Test Guidance.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The objective of the Test is to introduce a family perspective to the policy making process, specifically to make the potential impacts on family functioning and relationships explicit.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Department is working to raise awareness of the Family Test amongst its policy staff, so that the impact of policy on the family is considered as a matter of course. The Family Test is highlighted in policy induction training, which is available to staff who are new to policy roles in the Department. The Family Test is also highlighted through the PolicyKit, an online resource for the Department’s policy officials.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The health and care system across the United Kingdom is taking action against the growing threat of infections that are resistant to the antimicrobial drugs used to treat them.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In December 2014, we published the UK Five Year AMR Strategy detailed implementation plan. The plan set out those activities that needed to be undertaken to deliver the strategy in each of seven key areas for action. Activity in the plan is led by the Department of Health, Public Health England, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and NHS England and is incorporated within existing business plans for those organisations.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government has no current plans to make additional funding available to tackle drug-resistant infections. Any proposals for funding would be subject to the outcome of the Spending Review later this year.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Public Health England (PHE) has published no estimates for the number of drug-resistant infections in the West Midlands or nationally over the next five years. The science of drug resistant infections is incompletely understood and is rapidly changing and evolving. Multi-drug resistant infections are unpredictable in their occurrence and can rapidly change. For these reasons producing estimates of the likely burden in future years is unlikely to be meaningful or robust.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Antimicrobial resistance is a priority for PHE who are working to improve surveillance and knowledge in this area. Specific antimicrobial resistant infections have been measured by PHE and openly published in weekly Health Protection Reports.</p><p> </p> more like this
