The Government does not set or recommend the level of the fees that local authorities pay.</p><p> </p><p>We would expect decisions taken by councils commissioning care home places to be made on the basis of judgements about quality, best value and the outcomes for individual residents. Local authorities are major purchasers of care home places and are often able to negotiate very competitive rates with care providers.</p><p> </p><p>Providers are free to decide the rates they offer to residents whose care has not been arranged by a local authority. The UK NSC will review the evidence for screening again in 2016-17 as part of its three yearly review policy cycle.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>A preferred approach is to target higher risk groups (post-menopausal women, those on long term steroid use and after a first fracture). The number of people registering for organ donation has increased by over 3 million since 2010 to over 20 million. NHS Blood and Transplant launched a United Kingdom strategy in July 2013 - <em>Taking Organ Transplantation to 2020</em> - that sets the agenda for increasing organ donation and transplantation rates over the next seven years. HEE is responsible for ensuring a secure workforce supply for the future balancing need against demand, taking into account factors such as the age profile of the existing workforce, the impact of technology, and new drugs.</p><p> </p><p>The attached table sets out the number of training places for General Practice that were commissioned and filled for each of the last five years on a regional basis.</p><p> </p><p>It should be noted that the figure for 2014 represents figures for the year to date.
