answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/03/2019 answer text <p>The Foreign Secretary regularly speaks to his counterparts in the United States about how to secure a diplomatic solution to the threat posed by North Korea’s illegal nuclear and ballistic missile programmes, most recently to Secretary of State Pompeo on 5 March.</p><p> </p><p>We had hoped the talks between President Trump and Kim Jong-Un in Hanoi, Vietnam, 27-28 February, would prove a basis for progress. However, it was clear that there is more work to do espeically on the issue of denuclearisation. We welcome the US commitment to continue negotiations and continue to urge North Korea to engage in this process. It will take place along-side the first Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the AU and the African Regional Economic Communities on 7-8 July. Attendance at such events by partners like the United Kingdom is by invitation. The Government's priorities for the AU are reflected in the strategic partnership agreement between the AU and the United Kingdom signed in Addis Ababa on 21 February 2019. Through this partnership we will work together to support a shared vision for a prosperous, secure and innovative Africa, building on growing economic ties to forge new opportunities for young people and reinforce our close bonds. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/03/2019 answer text <p>We are firmly committed to ending the recruitment and use of child soldiers and to protecting all children affected by armed conflict.</p><p>The UK is an active member of the UN Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict (CAAC), which leads the international response to the issue of child soldiers and child protection. This includes pressing those parties to conflict listed in the UN Secretary-General's annual report on CAAC, including Yemen, to enter into concrete action plans with the UN to verify and release child soldiers.</p><p>The UK is also the largest single financial contributor to the office of the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for CAAC, contributing £800,000 in the last five years. We have shown our support for the SRSG's recently launched Global Coalition for Reintegration (GCR) by joining the 'Friends of Reintegration' group, a forum to generate new ideas for supporting reintegration programmes and for the prevention of re-recruitment of children formerly associated with armed groups. NATO Allies have also been expressing shared concerns about Russian non-compliance since 2014. Russia has offered no credible response.</p><p>On 2 February 2019, the US began the process of withdrawing from the INF Treaty. They also covered the hunger strikes in support of Abdullah Öcalan by Kurdish prisoners, including Leyla Guven MP. We are pleased to note that she was recently released from prison.
