The third UK National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security, covering the period
2014-17, was published in June 2014. In December 2014 we presented an Implementation
Plan to Parliament, which set out our goals for action on this important issue in
our priority countries: Afghanistan, Burma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Libya,
Somalia and Syria. The National Action Plan, jointly owned by the Foreign and Commonwealth
Office, the Department for International Development and the Ministry of Defence,
demonstrates our intention to put women and girls at the centre of all our efforts
to prevent and resolve conflict; to prevent and respond to violence against women
and girls; and to promote peace and stability internationally. We will report to Parliament
on progress in implementing the National Action Plan in the autumn.
