We remain in close touch with the Russian LGBT Network and, together with our international partners, are monitoring any new reports of the detention and torture of LGBT people in Chechnya. The UK also played an active role in preparing additional EU rules on trade in seal products.</p><p>The Foreign Secretary has not discussed seal hunting with the Canadian Government. Regrettably, human rights abuses continue on a large scale. Conflict has had a significant impact on civilians.
