answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/03/2015 answer text <p>We have a number of serious concerns about increasing political tensions in the Maldives and the arrest of former President Nasheed, who has now been sentenced to 13 years imprisonment for forceful abduction. As I said in my statement of 13 March, despite calls from the international community for due process to be followed, we are concerned that the former President's trial has not been conducted in a transparent and impartial manner nor in accordance with due legal process. <br><br>I made my concerns very clear when I discussed this issue with the Foreign Minister of the Maldives, Dunya Maumoon, on 6 March. We do not approve exports where there is a clear risk that the export could be used in any way which would contravene any of the Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria (known as the Consolidated Criteria). Risks around human rights violations and conflict are a key part of our assessment. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/03/2015 answer text We were deeply concerned to hear about an explosion at a coalmine near Donetsk city on 4 March which resulted in over 30 deaths. the UK was not asked by the Ukrainian government for assistance on this occasion. We were concerned to hear that the Russian-backed separatists rejected the Ukrainian government’s offer to assist in the tragedy. The UK continues to support Ukraine in other areas, and is providing £10 million in technical assistance to support economic and governance reforms in Ukraine, and to provide humanitarian assistance. In response to the deteriorating humanitarian situation an additional £15 million of humanitarian support to Ukraine was announced by the Prime Minister, my right hon. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/03/2015 answer text <p>Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) budgets are devolved to London departments and overseas Posts.</p><p>The FCO does not have a dedicated advertising budget, and so it would not be possible to aggregate any spending without incurring disproportionate cost. Similarly, there is no central Departmental budget for communications and so to establish this figure would incur disproportionate cost. The central Communication Directorate budget outturns for the period requested are as follows:</p><p>September 2014: 119,151<br>October: 179,324<br>November: 154,348<br>December: 177,033<br>January 2015: 364,872<br>February: 243,531</p><p>Forecast figures are subject to constant change. Her Majesty's Government is supporting the Thalidomide Trust’s National Advisory Council in their efforts to engage the German government in order to seek compensation for British Survivors of Thalidomide. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is currently working with the National Advisory Council in its efforts to secure a meeting with the relevant German authorities.</p><p>The British Ambassador to Berlin has raised the National Advisory Council’s campaign with the German Families Minister, Manuela Schwesig.</p><p>In addition, the Minister for Life Sciences at the Department of Health, my hon. In addition, the report of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict is due to be discussed at the Human Rights Council this month.
