We do have statistics on the number and value of emergency loans given to victims of forced marriage for repatriation purposes since 2012. The cost of repatriating victims of forced marriage to the UK varies, and is dependent on individual circumstances including the victim’s age and the country that they are in. There are also different routes for funding repatriation: in the majority of cases the family cover the cost of the repatriation<strong>. </strong>Where possible, the Government to seek to ensure the costs fall on the perpetrators by means of Forced Marriage Protection Orders (FMPOs). After careful consideration, the Foreign Secretary has decided that victims of forced marriage who are helped to return to the UK by the FMU will no longer be asked to take out a loan for their repatriation costs.</p><p>From now on, none of those who are assisted by the FMU - and would previously have been offered a loan - will have to cover the costs of their repatriation. Where possible, the Government will continue to seek to ensure the costs fall on the perpetrators by means of Forced Marriage Protection Orders.</p><p>The Government has also agreed to ensure that those victims who have outstanding loans will have no further cost fall to them. Their passports will also be unblocked.</p><p>The FMU provides support and advice for victims, those at risk, and professionals, through its public helpline. The support offered ranges from providing information and guidance to organising rescue and repatriation to the UK for victims overseas.</p><p>Between 2012-2017, the FMU supported almost 1,500 victims of forced marriage who were overseas, of whom 52 took loans. There were nine cases where surcharges were added. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/01/2019 answer text <p>The Foreign Secretary and I met with the foreign minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) at the Illegal Wildlife Trade conference in London last October. He encouraged the Congolese government to engage constructively with the then upcoming elections. Last month I underlined with the three main presidential candidates the need to engage fully with the electoral process and to condemn any electoral violence or incitement of it. We continue to press for adherence to these principles locally and through multilateral fora such as the UN and EU.</p><p>The UK congratulates the Congolese people for exercising their democratic rights by going to the polls on 30 December 2018. Thankfully, the polling period was more stable than many had feared it might be and instances of electoral violence were minimal. Despite the electoral commission (CENI) delaying the announcement of the election results, much of the country remains calm, including the capital, Kinshasa. This joint unit was established in 2005 because the Government of the day recognised that British citizens who are forced into marriage constituted a category of exceptionally vulnerable people in need of specific help.</p><p>After careful consideration, the Foreign Sectetary and I have decided that victims of forced marriage who are helped to return to the UK by the Forced Marriage Unit will no longer be asked to take out a loan for their repatriation costs.</p><p>From now on, none of those who are assisted by the Forced Marriage Unit - and would previously have been offered a loan - will have to cover the costs of their repatriation. Humanitarian goods are not subject to either US or EU sanctions. We are, nevertheless, working with our European partners on mechanisms to support continued trade in humanitarian goods, such as pharmaceutical exports. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/01/2019 answer text <p>On 26 October 2018 the Prime Minister reaffirmed to Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mehdi the UK's commitment to helping build a stable and successful Iraq. On 14 November 2018, I reinforced this message to Iraqi Foreign Minister Al Hakim, and requested that the Government of Iraq proactively contribute to reconstruction and stabilisation efforts. These efforts must be Iraqi-owned and Iraqi-led, with sustained international support.</p><p>Since 2015, the UK has committed over £30m to help stabilise areas liberated from Daesh, including rehabilitating critical infrastructure, delivering basic services like water and electricity, rebuilding livelihoods and supporting community reconciliation. This includes £14.45 million to the UN's Funding Facility for Stabilisation, to help the Iraqi government stabilise areas of return and re-establish security, basic services and inclusive local governance.</p><p>Stabilisation is not just about restoring physical infrastructure, but also about rebuilding trust. Community reconciliation is vital if Iraq is to enjoy a stable and prosperous future.
