answer text
We are deeply concerned at reports of government aerial bombardments targeting civilian farms and agricultural production in South Kordofan and frequently raise our concerns about the ongoing conflict in the Two Areas directly with the Government of Sudan and through multilateral forums such as the UN Security Council discussions. In respect of South Sudan the UK has been at the forefront of an effective EU arms embargo aimed at stopping the proliferation of arms across the region. The UK continues to work with partners to enforce this embargo. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has not seen evidence of the Government of Sudan violent Islamist extremist groups, but we maintain dialogue with the Government of Sudan on wider radicalisation concerns in Sudan and the region.
more like this

answer text
We have raised with the Government of Bahrain the decision to withdraw citizenship from 31 individuals in 2012 and are aware of a number of new cases since then. We encouraged the authorities to conduct full investigations into any of those accused of crimes and ensure that individuals are given a right of appeal against citizenship deprivation decisions. The UK provides technical assistance to Bahrain and share best practice on the criminal justice system. These programmes aim to help with implementing the recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry and UN Universal Periodic Review. In addition to this technical assistance, we engage politically with the Government of Bahrain at the highest levels on areas of concern – including encouraging Bahrain to ensure that international norms of justice are adhered to in every case.
more like this

answer text
Kosovo Force (KFOR) continues to have a Kosovo-wide role particularly in the Serbian majority north of Kosovo. It also has a specific role in protecting Serbian Orthodox sites, yet in the south of Kosovo this is coming to an end. KFOR is currently in the process of transferring responsibility for these sites to the Kosovo Police. This is done in consultation with the Serbian Orthodox Church and taking into account the political and security conditions on the ground. The monastery at Decani remains under KFOR protection and the Patriarchate in Peja is currently undergoing a transition to police protection.

While there has been a slight increase in incidents of intercommunal violence, mainly due to the reverberations following a recent football match between Albania and Serbia, we do not see an overall trend of an increase in violence in general or a need for KFOR to increase activity.
more like this

answer text The Civil Service Recruitment Principles require recruitment to the Civil Service to be on the basis of merit after fair and open competition. Recruitment is also permitted, without fair and open competition, in an established set of circumstances (‘Exceptions’), when it has not been possible – or it is impracticable or disproportionate given an urgent need for business critical skills - to select someone on merit through fair and open competition. This has been our interpretation of ‘exceptions’ in the context of this question. The following table shows the number of times the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has made use of these exceptions by financial year since 2010. FY 2007/8-103 FY 2008/9-52 FY 2009/10-33 FY 2010/11-15 FY 2011/2012-36 FY 2012/2013-14 FY 2013/2014-25 FY 2014/2015 (to 5/11/14)-15 The figures cover recruitment in the UK where an individual has been identified as as offering particular skills or experience which are critical to the business of the organisation. The FCO does not publish details of staff members.
