answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/07/2017 answer text <p>Implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive within the UK is a devolved matter.</p><p> </p><p>Updated River Basin Management Plans published in 2016 provide the framework for protecting and improving the water environment, and focus on the improvements for the period 2016 to 2021. The plans for England confirm over £3billion of investment by 2021, leading to improvements in at least 680 water bodies, including an overall target to enhance at least 8000 km of waters by 2021. The Bill is to provide certainty for individuals and businesses on leaving the EU by converting current EU law, including that transposing the Water Framework Directive, into UK law. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/07/2017 answer text <p>The Government intends for one million more trees to be planted in our towns and cities and to place new duties on councils to consult when they wish to cut down street trees.</p><p> </p><p>There is evidence that healthy, well-chosen and well-placed urban and peri-urban trees and woodlands can have a small, but beneficial impact on urban air quality.</p><p> </p><p>The Air Quality Expert Group (AQEG) is considering further the evidence around the potential of trees to contribute to improvements in air quality to inform our further policy development. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/07/2017 answer text <p>The UK network of 270 classified special protection areas, covering approximately 2.8 million hectares of key habitats, protects many rare, threatened and vulnerable birds including curlews.</p><p> </p><p>The Government’s agri-environment schemes have been designed to encourage habitat management including for curlew conservation in targeted areas, to provide suitable nesting and foraging conditions.</p><p> </p><p>Natural England is working with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds on a recovery programme aimed at providing a coordinated approach to the management of curlew habitats, including predator control to increase breeding numbers. In 2015, EU vessels caught an estimated 10,000 tonnes of fish, worth around £17 million in the 6-12 mile zone of UK waters. Plans to withdraw from the London Fisheries Convention were set out in the Government’s manifesto and so were well known to Ministers of all devolved administrations.
