answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/05/2019 answer text <p>The Government currently regulates the use of generators with a thermal input of over 1 megawatt in order to minimise the negative impact on air quality, in particular nitrogen oxide emissions.</p><p> </p><p>The Clean Air Strategy, published earlier this year, recognises the scope for potentially tighter controls in the future, both in terms of size of generator and level of emissions. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/05/2019 answer text <p>The Government is concerned that, in the absence of agreed standards, claims about the biodegradability of plastic based products cannot be verified leading to potential confusion in the market place, possible increased levels of consumption and potential environmental harm at the point of disposal.</p><p> </p><p>As part of the Bioeconomy Strategy published on 5 December 2018, the Government committed to work with UK Research and Innovation and industry to seek evidence on the demand, benefits and implications (for example the impact on recycling streams) of a standard for bio based and biodegradable plastics that would include carrier bags. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/05/2019 answer text <p>Under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on Food Information to Consumers, all prepackaged food must include a label which provides the consumer with certain mandatory information, including a full list of ingredients. In addition, key allergens, as defined in Annex II of the Regulation, must be emphasised in the ingredient list, for example, by printing them in a bold typeface.</p><p> </p><p>For non-prepackaged foods and foods which are prepackaged for direct sale, a full list of ingredients is not required on the label; however, information about allergens must be made available to the consumer, whether that be on the label, orally at the point of sale or by some other means.</p><p> </p><p>Defra has recently closed a consultation to strengthen allergen labelling laws relating to pre-packaged food for direct sale and give consumers clearer information on the food they buy. We are considering all responses and continuing to work at pace to bring forward the changes necessary to give consumers greater confidence in the safety of their food. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/05/2019 answer text <p>Government policy does not specify that public sector organisations should purchase British food as this would go against current procurement rules and regulations. However, the Government is keen to promote the sales of locally grown and ethically produced food and drink in canteens on its estate.</p><p> </p><p>The Plan for Public Procurement, published under the 2010-2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition Government, aims to help procurers make more informed purchases. The plan included guidance, in the form of a balanced scorecard, enabling bids for contracts to be assessed against a set of Government buying standards for food.</p><p> </p><p>The balanced scorecard rewards bids for contracts which commit to serve locally sourced food and those that take advantage of seasonal increases in the availability of certain types of produce. With regard to fair traded goods, the mandatory element of the buying standards requires that 50% of tea and coffee must be sourced fairly, and to meet the best practice standards 100% of tea, coffee, bananas and cocoa must be fair trade. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/04/2019 answer text <p>The UK is working both domestically and internationally to improve global ocean conservation in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG14. Internationally, we are leading calls to protect 30% of the world’s ocean by 2030. We are on track to protect 4 million square kilometres of ocean across our Overseas Territories by 2020, and are backing an Ascension Island bid to protect 100% of its offshore waters. To support achievement of the “30by30” target, the UK is working hard to secure the agreement of a new Implementing Agreement under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea for the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction in 2020.</p><p> </p><p>Domestically, 36% of English inshore and offshore waters are protected within Marine Protected Areas. In addition, we have consulted on a further 41 Marine Conservation Zones. Sites to be designated will be in place by 7 June.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We are also working to reduce plastic pollution in the ocean and are leading global efforts to tackle the problem through our support of the G7 Oceans Plastics Charter, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy and the Commonwealth Blue Charter. In April 2018, we launched the Commonwealth Clean Ocean Alliance (CCOA), which we co-lead with Vanuatu.
