answer text <p>We take the provision of information to consumers extremely seriously and it is essential that all UK consumers have complete trust in the food they are eating.</p><p>Defra is working closely with the Food Standards Agency and the Department for Health and Social Care to urgently review our approach to food labelling with the aim of strengthening the current allergen labelling framework. We are also holding talks with the Devolved Administrations to see what approach they may wish to take, as this is a devolved matter.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The methods of production for eggs such as ‘free range’ and ‘barn’ and poultry meat are already defined in law and the use of the Red Tractor, RSPCA Assured and the British Lion are accreditation schemes that help identify products where their respective animal health and welfare standards have been met.</p><p> </p><p>Leaving the EU will create the opportunity to do more by way of improved labelling for consumers and the government is considering what further options three might be after leaving the EU.</p> more like this
