With the introduction of the national funding formula, for the first time school
funding is being distributed according to a formula based on the individual needs
and characteristics of every school. This will direct resources where they are needed
most, and provide transparency and predictability for schools.

The Government
recognises that schools need stability. This is why the Department has provided protection
in the formula, so that every school and every local area, will be allocated an increase
of at least 0.5% per pupil in 2018-19 and 1% in 2019-20, over its baseline.

The following table shows the impact of the fully implemented national funding
formula for the four metropolitan boroughs in South Yorkshire. These figures are calculated
as if the national funding formula had been implemented in full in 2017-18, with no
transitional arrangements.

The Government recognises that many schools have worked hard to manage
the impact of cost pressures on their budgets up to this point. The Department provides
