These include making company directors personally liable for any breach of the rules by their company and banning unwanted calls from claims management companies and pensions providers in the Financial Guidance and Claims Act 2018. We are also funding the National Trading Standards Scams Team to provide telephone call blocking technology to vulnerable people, as announced during the Chancellor's budget last year. It was also clear that Government wants to see sport’s inspirational impact have as broad a reach as possible.<p /><p>UK Sport studies show the motivational power of sport, with two thirds of the British public saying they have been inspired by the success of our Olympic and Paralympic teams and 40% of these people being motivated to do more sport or active recreation than normal.</p><p>Government welcomes the BBC's announcement that it will stream over 1000 hours of extra sport a year. Along with the BBC Connected Sport app, this will allow greater access for fans across the country to view sport. This is an opportunity for everyone involved in the sport to build on this momentum to continue to raise the profile of women’s football and women’s sport in general.</p><p> </p><p>The government is determined to get more girls and women playing sport, something we set out in our sport strategy, Sporting Future. Football is the second most played team sport for adult women and the top ranked team sport in terms of participation for girls.</p><p> </p><p>We are investing £14.6million into the Football Association (FA) through Sport England between 2017-2021, to support their grassroots participation, talent and coaching programmes. £2.6million of this is specifically reserved for women and girls talent programmes and the FA also receive an additional £2million each year towards improving diversity in its coaching workforce.</p><p> </p><p>Government is also investing £18million into the Football Foundation charity each year to help deliver a programme of new and improved community sports facilities in towns and cities across the country.</p><p> </p><p>All public funding provided is used to benefit men’s, women’s and disability football; for example investment in a mixed coaching programme or facility will benefit all groups within that community.</p> answering member printed Lord Ashton of Hyde question first answered 19/07/2019 10:41:07 answering member 4247 label Biography information for Lord Ashton of Hyde

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/07/2019 answer text <p>The government recognises the importance of television to people of all ages, particularly for older people who value television as a source of entertainment, companionship and a way to stay connected with the world.</p><p> </p><p>We are very disappointed with the BBC’s decision that only people who are aged 75 and above and in receipt of pension credit will continue to receive a free television licence from June 2020. The Secretary of State has met with the Chairman of the BBC Board and the Director-General of the BBC and asked them to do more to help the most vulnerable groups affected by the decision.</p><p> </p><p>A TV licence is only required to watch or record live television programmes, or to download or watch BBC programmes on iPlayer. Therefore, those without a TV licence will still be able to access other BBC content via the BBC radio stations (including BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer Radio), and the BBC, BBC News and BBC Sport websites.</p><p> </p><p>Further television programming can also be reached via other On-Demand and subscription television services, and current affairs content is available through news websites, newspapers, social media channels and apps, enabling continued democratic engagement.
