answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/10/2018 answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence is required to undertake a valuation of the Armed Forces Pension Scheme every four years. Early indications are that the amount the Department pays towards the scheme will need to increase. This is largely because of proposed changes to the discount rate used to assess the current cost of future payments from the schemes to reflect the Office for Budget Responsibility's long-term growth forecasts. The outcome of the valuation will be published by the end of this financial year.</p><p>Some increase in costs was anticipated at Budget 2016. HM Treasury will be supporting Departments with any unforeseen costs for financial year 2019-20. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/05/2018 answer text <p>Within the Ministry of Defence (MOD) we are working to create the right environment so that staff can contribute as effectively as possible and feel that the MOD is a great place to work. In line with the wider Civil Service, we focus on the principle of engagement rather than purely on morale. We undertake the annual Civil Service People Survey which enables us to track engagement over time.</p><p>Engagement is a priority for our senior leaders. A recent Leading Defence event included a discussion session on engagement to equip managers to take action locally. The 2017/18 capability building programme 'Leading Through Uncertainty' focussed on the relationship between the line manager and the individual. Initiatives such as these will ultimately improve morale and engagement.
