answer text <p>The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is an independent regulator. Treasury Ministers had no discussions with the chairman before the FCA announced the decision to discontinue the review of banking culture included in the 2015-16 Business Plan. The FCA has set out in its published response to a Freedom of Information request, the dates when it communicated its decision to discontinue this review to other organisations. answer text <p>Following the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement, it was announced on the London Stock Exchange at 2:57pm on 25 November 2015 that HMG is not providing £1bn capital grant funding.</p><br /><p>We have not taken this decision lightly. However, this was a tight financial settlement and difficult decisions have had to be made. Support for the CCS competition projects has always been conditional on affordability and value for money.</p><br /><p>This decision means that the CCS Competition cannot proceed on its current basis. CCS has a potential role in the long-term decarbonisation of the UK and the government is engaging closely with the bidders on the implications of this decision for them.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Chancellor’s announcement on 21 September 2015 set out that the government and the Hinkley Point C project company had agreed the terms of a £2 billion guarantee through the UK Guarantees Scheme. This guarantee is the first tranche of debt guarantees that was approved as part of the European Commission’s approval of the wider support package for Hinkley Point C. answer text <p>HM Treasury will soon consult on what planning powers will be given to the National Infrastructure Commission, and on its remit.</p><br /><p>It will initially focus on areas of UK government competence. Where spending is devolved, it will be a matter for the devolved governments whether they wish to work with the Commission and how to respond to any recommendations it makes.</p><br /><p>The Commission will provide objective analysis and an independent view on infrastructure needs, but Government will retain the final say on policy and which projects receive government support in being delivered.</p><p><br></p> more like this

answer text <p>The Chancellor received advice from UK Financial Investments (UKFI) that it would be appropriate to conduct the first sale of the government’s shareholdings in the Royal Bank of Scotland on 4 August 2015, based on the share price at the time, and the prevailing market conditions.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Chancellor received advice from HM Treasury that a sale would offer good value for money and meet all other requirements in accordance with the principles of Managing Public Money.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The sale raised £2.1 billion, which will be used to pay down the national debt.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The advice from UKFI and HM Treasury is available on the government’s website <a href="http://www.gov.uk/" target="_blank">www.gov.uk</a>.</p> more like this
