This regime is not run or approved by government.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The collecting societies ‘PRS for Music’ and ‘Phonographic Performance Limited’ (PPL), which represent copyright owners in the music sector, enforce their licensing requirements themselves. Since April 2014, their conduct towards licensees and potential licensees has been governed by minimum standards that can be enforced by Government through the Copyright (Regulation of Relevant Licensing Bodies) Regulations 2014.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p> </p><p>The UK’s national seismic network is operated by the British Geological Survey (BGS), a Research Centre of the Natural Environment Research Council. The network will detect almost all earthquakes of local magnitude 2 and above in the UK. The network does detect events with magnitude less than 2, but some will not be recorded as the ability to detect an event reliably diminishes with increasing distance from the closest seismometer stations. Seismic events in the UK since June 2004 are shown in Table 1 below. The BGS network detects around 100 earthquakes in the UK annually. answer text <p>In December 2011, the Government launched the Strategy for UK Life Sciences which includes measures to improve the commercial, research and regulatory environment, with the aim of making the UK the location of choice for investment. Government has also taken steps to strengthen protection for intellectual property in the UK.</p><p>In 2012 a specific organisation was set up to promote life sciences to international companies: the Life Sciences Investment Organisation (now reformed as the Life Sciences Organisation (LSO), with responsibility also for UK trade promotion). LSO collects and distils information on the UK’s internationally competitive commercial offers in life sciences; these are marketed to potential investors via the UK Trade and Investment global network of investment advisors, with tailored support provided to those investors that choose the UK.</p> more like this

answer text <p> </p><p>Ofcom has set out its approach towards carrying out a full assessment of end-to-end competition in its Guidance published in March 2013 (“Final Guidance on Ofcom’s approach to assessing the impact on the universal service”). Although it has not set out a specific timescale for a full review, Ofcom has in place a continuous monitoring regime and access to key confidential data from Royal Mail and other postal operators which would enable it to anticipate any potential threat to the universal service.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Ofcom has said that they are keeping market developments under close monthly review and if this monitoring identified cause for concern they would be able to carry out a review very quickly.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>More information about Ofcom’s regulatory framework can be found on Ofcom’s website (<a href="http://www.ofcom.org.uk/" target="_blank">www.ofcom.org.uk</a>).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this
