<p>The Department supports postgraduate study in nursing and allied care disciplines
through the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), except where courses
are sponsored directly by National Health Service (NHS) bodies.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>
</p><p>HEFCE funding is provided via two different routes:</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>
</p><p>i) Taught Programmes, which are typically Masters qualifications such as Masters
of Arts or Masters of Sciences, but also include courses such as postgraduate diplomas;</p><p>
</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>ii) Research Programmes, which are typically Doctorates in
Philosophy (PhDs), but can include some Masters programmes such as Masters of Philosophy
or Masters of Research courses. Research programmes are funded through ‘Quality-Related
(QR) Research Degree Programme (RDP) supervision funding’.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>
