<p>Batteries can provide a range of services to the electricity system, such as storing
electricity from renewable generation during periods of low demand and releasing electricity
when prices are high, as well as helping to reduce the cost of balancing the system.
They can provide services at both local (community) and national levels.</p><p> </p><p>Distribution
Network Operators (DNOs) also operate local markets for flexibility services. These
provide additional opportunities for batteries to support the decarbonisation of,
and provide energy to, their local communities.</p>
