answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/07/2017 answer text <p>The latest ONS Labour Force Survey shows the number of people reporting to be self-employed was 4.8 million in the 4<sup>th</sup> quarter of 2016.</p><p>Due to the age categories in which ONS reports this data, it is not possible to get a figure for 21 to 65 year olds.</p><p>However, as a proportion of the total number of people in employment (31,713,000), self-employed people between the ages of 25 and 64 account for 13.1% of total employment.
