It is an extremely complex crime which can affect anyone and this Government takes the issue very seriously. DWP is committed to doing all we can to support victims of domestic and economic abuse. All work coaches undergo mandatory training in how to support vulnerable claimants including recognising the signs of domestic abuse. Neither our ratification of the UN Convention or the Equality Act 2010 would change as a result of the UK leaving the European Union without a deal. The updates included changes to the guidance on PIP activity 3 to reflect that help required for a special diet can constitute therapy in certain circumstances. This is in line with the LB Upper Tribunal decision, handed down in November 2016.
