answer text <p>The UK’s contribution to the ERA will be provided to the Government of Ukraine as a loan from the UK Government, for them to spend on military procurement. Because it is not direct UK defence spending, HMG’s assessment is the £2.26bn ERA loan will therefore not count as NATO qualifying UK defence spending.</p><p>It will be in addition to current NATO qualifying UK defence spending.</p> more like this

answer text <p>With regard to the UK’s disbursement of its £2.26bn contribution to the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration scheme, the loan agreement and full terms remain in discussion and no decision has yet been made on what Ukraine will buy using this money. answer text <p>The Winter Fuel Payment continues to be paid to pensioner households with someone receiving Pension Credit or certain other income-related benefits. This means that the Winter Fuel Payment will be better targeted to low income pensioners who need it. This was a tough decision, but the right decision given the public finances.</p><p> </p><p>The Winter Fuel Payment is paid by the Department for Work and Pensions on a household basis whereas taxpayer information is held by HMRC on individual basis. As such HMT does not hold this data at a household level.</p><p> </p><p>DWP does however publish data on pensioner incomes; this can be found at <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/pensioners-incomes-series-financial-year-2021-to-2022/pensioners-incomes-series-financial-year-2021-to-2022#pensioners-incomes-within-the-overall-income-distribution" target="_blank">Pensioners' Incomes Series: Financial year 2021 to 2022</a>.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The government engages with a broad range of stakeholders such as the financial regulators, industry, debt advice charities and consumer groups to monitor trends in consumer debt and understand issues affecting consumers.</p><p> </p><p>The Government currently provides a range of debt advice services through the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) to meet the needs of individuals in problem debt, including national and community-based services offering free-to-client debt advice. In addition, the Government’s ‘Breathing Space’ scheme provides eligible individuals protections from creditor enforcement action for a period of 60 days, giving them the space to work with a professional debt adviser to identify a positive and sustainable solution to their problem debt.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Effective, proportionate regulation is key to a thriving UK economy and delivering the government’s mission to drive the inclusive growth and international competitiveness of the UK’s financial services sector. The government is working closely with the regulators to deliver the government’s vision for the sector, and ministers meet with the FCA and PRA regularly to engage on this.</p><p> </p><p>The government is required to write to the Prudential Regulation Committee and the FCA at least once in each Parliament, making recommendations about aspects of economic policy they should have regard to as they consider the advancement of the PRA’s and FCA’s objectives and the discharge of their duties. These letters must be laid before Parliament and published.</p><p> </p><p>The FCA and PRA are required to report to the Treasury on how they have advanced their competitiveness and growth objectives. They published the first reports in July, which set out how they have begun to adapt their approach in light of the new objectives. answer text <p>The independent Northern Ireland Fiscal Council calculated that the relative need in Northern Ireland is 24% more per head than the rest of the UK for equivalent spending.</p><p> </p><p>As part of the 2024 restoration of the Northern Ireland Executive (NIE) the UK Government and Northern Ireland Executive agreed to add a 24% needs-based factor into the Barnett Formula from 2024-25. This is part of a financial package worth over £3.3 billion.</p><p> </p><p>Including this additional funding, the Northern Ireland Executive is being funded above its relative need in 2024-25. The UK Government will continue to work with the Northern Ireland Executive to agree a final Fiscal Framework.</p> more like this
