star this property answer text <p>The Chancellor is in regular contact with the Prime Minister on a range of issues.</p><p> </p><p>The UK is committed to tackling climate change and we are a world leader in clean growth. That is why last week the Government began to legislate for a net zero emissions target by 2050. The UK is the first major economy to put such a target in legislation.</p><p> </p><p>At the same time, the Chancellor has accepted the recommendation of the Committee on Climate Change to conduct a Review into the costs of decarbonisation. This will be the world’s first comprehensive review by a finance ministry into the costs of transitioning to a net zero economy. The Review will consider how to achieve this transition in a way that works for households, businesses and public finances, as well as the implications for UK competitiveness.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Total Carbon Price is currently made up of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme Price and the Carbon Price Support. In 2014, the Carbon Price Support was frozen at £18 per tonne of carbon from 2016/17 until 2020. In 2016, the Chancellor announced that the Carbon Price Support for 2020/21 will be uplifted with RPI. In Autumn Budget 2017, the Chancellor announced that the Total Carbon Price would be maintained similar to its current level until unabated coal is no longer used.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>For the purpose of the new Control, new low carbon electricity levies are defined as anything beyond our existing low carbon electricity levy contracts and commitments. Existing contracts and commitments include Contracts for Difference, the Renewables Obligation and Feed-in Tariffs, as well as the commitment to up to £557 million for further Contracts for Difference.
