	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/06/2020 answer text <p>The Government has frozen regulated rail fares in line with inflation for the seventh year in a row.</p><p> </p><p>The future introduction of HS2 will help improve the quality of rail travel across Coventry and the West Midlands, but there are initiatives that are making a real difference now:</p><p> </p><ul><li><p>In May 2019, West Midlands Trains (WMT) introduced through services and longer trains between Leamington and Nuneaton via Coventry.</p></li></ul><p> </p><ul><li><p>WMT is investing £700million to introduce 180 brand new carriages and add 20,000 more peak hour seats into Birmingham in the next couple of years.</p><p> </p></li><li><p>Subject to the approval of Avanti’s proposal by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR), Walsall will receive its first direct Intercity West Coast services to London in 2021, while Coventry and the West Midlands are due to benefit from additional services on weekends from 2021, and earlier weekday morning services from December 2022.</p></li></ul><p> </p><ul><li><p>We are investing to provide additional carriages to increase capacity on CrossCountry (XC) services at Coventry and across the West Midlands from 2021.</p></li></ul><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> answering member constituency Daventry answering member printed Chris Heaton-Harris question first answered 23/06/2020 13:28:34 answering member 3977 label Biography information for Chris Heaton-Harris

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/12/2020 answer text <p>The Department is working with local stakeholders such as Midlands Connect to consider the suitability of options to reduce rail journey times on the section of line between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury.</p><p> </p><p>Since the pandemic began West Midlands Trains has been operating one train per hour between Birmingham and Shrewsbury, with extra services at peak times, alongside the hourly Transport for Wales service. Cross Country is also adding carriages to some of its local services into Birmingham in 2021.</p><p> </p><p>The West Midlands network also plans to grow by adding new stations on existing lines to serve communities that lost their rail services during the 20th century. These include three stations on the Camp Hill Line in south Birmingham, and two in the Black Country to serve the towns of Willenhall and Darlaston.</p><p> </p><p>On infrastructure, the Department is working with Network Rail and Midlands Connect to develop an Outline Business Case for the Midlands Rail Hub.
