star this property answer text <p>There is no set date for the completion of works at Lawrence Hill Station.</p><p> </p><p>Network Rail are re-profiling the infrastructure works in and around Bristol, including Lawrence Hill Station.</p><p> </p><p>No work has yet begun to make Lawrence Hill step free, however, Network Rail will be scheduling sessions later this year to develop options and to look at how best to progress this work as a choice for Government.</p> more like this

The principle that the Welsh Government and Network Rail have worked to is that Network Rail’s business should be held harmless as a result of the transfer and that Network Rail will not retain liabilities for assets that it no longer owns. Subject to this principle, discussions on the details of future agreements, including on the specifics of future liabilities, are ongoing.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We are encouraging the railway industry to improve air quality by proposing solutions that reduce emissions from trains and also to develop innovative solutions around future fuel technologies such as hydrogen and battery power. In the nearer term, there are currently a number of new bi-mode trains being delivered or on order. The rail industry expects rolling stock to typically have an expected life in the range of 30 to 35 years. There is no policy at present on the use of diesel trains post 2040.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The use of rail replacement buses is always regrettable when the passenger rightly expects a train to complete his or her journey. However, restricting the use of buses to planned engineering works only will deprive many people of transport when serious incidents occur, for example when the railway is closed to deal with the aftermath of an fatality or other operating incident. The Department will continue to work with the industry to limit the use of bus replacements services and therefore the impact on passengers. However, in a complex and growing network buses may offer the best solution to retain a consistent, reliable service for passengers in certain circumstances.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>HS2 Ltd is working with the Department for Transport to agree new governance arrangements relating to redundancy payments including a revised Framework Document which will become public when finalised.</p><p>The senior appointments at HS2 Ltd include a new Interim Finance Director, and a permanent Finance Director who has been appointed and will start in early 2018. Work is underway to appoint a permanent HR Director. In addition, there have been a number of other senior appointments in both teams including Finance Managers, Senior HR Business Managers, a Head of Employee Relations and an Interim Director of Organisational Development. Some of these posts are new roles and some have arisen as a consequence of HS2’s relocation to Birmingham.</p> more like this
