This is further to regulations allowing the operation of LSTs post-trial which came into force on 31 May 2023. Guidance was published on 30 May 2023 and updated on 14 November 2023. For operators in the trial, the trial ends on 29 February 2024, having been extended from 30 November 2023. In parallel, the Department is investing £200m into zero emission HGV and infrastructure demonstrators to provide the road freight industry with the evidence needed to make investment decisions and have the confidence to transition to zero emissions technologies sooner. A formal response will be published in due course. The Plug in Car Grant was in place for over a decade and successfully supported early market growth of the electric car market. Over 16% of new cars sold last year were fully electric.</p><p> </p><p>Government incentives are targeted to where they will deliver the most impact and deliver the greatest value for money to the taxpayer. This currently includes supporting the rollout of charging infrastructure and the uptake of vehicles that are harder to decarbonise such as vans, trucks and wheelchair accessible vehicles.</p><p> </p><p>The price of electric vehicles is continuing to fall and some on the used market are now lower than their petrol and diesel equivalents. Electric vehicle drivers also benefit from significant savings on the cost of fuel and lower maintenance costs. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/09/2022 answer text <p>The changes to The Highway Code to help improve road safety for people walking, cycling and horse riding have been communicated in two phases:</p><ul><li>A factual awareness raising campaign in February and March, alerting road users to the changes as they came into effect.</li><li>A broader behaviour change campaign in July and August, to align with seasonal increases in active travel, to help embed the changes and encourage understanding and uptake of the new guidance.</li></ul><p>Both phases of the campaign were supported by a significant media spend, using channels such as radio, digital audio, video on demand and social media advertising.</p><p>Specialist media planners and buyers are commissioned to secure the optimum and most cost-effective media placement for our messaging. The campaign plan used contextual opportunities, raising awareness at the point of the behaviour, as well as priming opportunities to diffuse tensions and build empathy and understanding amongst road user groups.
