star this property answer text <p>I have regular discussions on important Scottish economic matters with my Cabinet colleagues, including the Chancellor of the Exchequer.</p><p> </p><p>Technology has transformed banking for millions of people, but we know that many still rely on cash. That is why we are co-ordinating work across government, regulators and industry so we can protect access for everyone who needs it.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>LINK, the scheme that runs the UK’s ATM network, has publicly committed to maintain the broad geographic spread of ATMs and has put in place specific arrangements to protect remote free-to-use ATMs one kilometre or further from the next nearest free-to-use ATM. More recently, LINK has committed to protecting free access to cash on high streets – where there is a cluster of five or more retailers – that do not have a free-to-use ATM or a Post Office counter within 1 kilometre.</p><p><strong> </strong></p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In a recent Scottish Government Household survey, we see that public satisfaction in health, schools, education and public transport in Scotland has dropped to 51.7%, its lowest level since 2007, which is extremely disappointing. star this property answer text <p>I am aware that there are a large number of appeal cases, currently with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, regarding the activities of HELMS under the Green Deal. Under the Green Deal Framework Regulations, the Secretary of State for BEIS has the power to reduce or cancel loans where there has been a breach of the relevant rules, and she is satisfied that the consumer has suffered, or is likely to suffer, a substantive loss. I have been assured that BEIS is working to reach conclusions on these cases as soon as possible.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Work is the most effective route out of poverty and this Government is committed to helping people find work through a wide-range of support, targeted to each individual’s personal circumstances. While food banks represent an impressive response by civil society and faith groups to support vulnerable people, we are also committed to providing a strong safety-net for those who need it; that is why this Government continues to spend over £95 billion a year on welfare benefits which includes a well-established system of hardship payments, benefit advances and budgeting loans as an additional safeguard for those who need them.</p><p> </p><p>I currently have no plans to visit a food bank in my capacity as Secretary of State for Scotland in October 2019.</p><p> </p> more like this
