It is my firm view that the people of Northern Ireland need their elected representatives back in Government to take important decisions on the issues that matter most to them.</p><p> </p><p>The parties remain engaged and are demonstrating a willingness to find solutions to the remaining critical issues; a renewed determination to find agreement will be needed if the process is to conclude in the coming weeks. I am doing everything I can to support the political parties in coming to an agreement, including continuing having detailed discussions with everyone involved.</p><p> </p><p>The report I laid before the House on Wednesday 4 September contains a fuller update on the progress towards restoring the Executive.</p><p> </p><p>The people of Northern Ireland deserve strong political leadership from locally elected politicians.
