star this property answer text <p>I recently visited the Women’s Aid Federation NI in Belfast, to hear directly about this important issue. It is disappointing that Northern Ireland remains the only part of the UK without a dedicated strategy to tackle violence against women and girls and I note the significant work currently underway in the Executive Office to develop a Strategic Framework to End Violence Against Women and Girls. It is vital that the Northern Ireland Executive is restored to approve and implement this strategy.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government firmly believes that greater integration within education is an essential aspect of the reconciliation process in Northern Ireland. That is why, as part of the Stormont House and Fresh Start Agreements, the Government committed to providing up to £500 million of funding to support shared and integrated education projects. This funding is supporting the building of 23 integrated schools and 5 shared campuses.</p><p>The £400 million New Deal for Northern Ireland will also support initiatives to enable children from different community backgrounds to be educated together. The Government is currently exploring ways in which this funding can best be deployed.</p><p><br></p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Independent Review of Education was an important commitment made in the New Decade, New Approach Agreement, to be taken forward by the Northern Ireland Executive. It presents a real opportunity to ensure that Northern Ireland’s education system works for all children and young people, and helps promote integration and reconciliation at its core.</p><p> </p><p>The Government welcomes the establishment of the Review, the publication of its Terms of Reference and the completion of the recruitment process for the Panel. star this property answer text <p>As the Prime Minister stated in July, this Government is committed to investing massively in hydrogen. Hydrogen technology, particularly green hydrogen technology, has the potential to support the UK in reaching its target of net zero emissions by 2050 and this will benefit all parts of the Union.</p><p> </p><p>Northern Ireland can play a big part in this through innovations such as the world’s first hydrogen-electric double-decker bus by Wrightbus and proposed innovation by Stratospheric Platforms for a hydrogen-powered solution for the UK’s 5G network.</p><p> </p><p>Ministers and officials continue to engage with BEIS on the strategy itself and also with our counterparts in the Northern Ireland Executive, to find a funding solution that is specific to Northern Ireland.</p><p> </p><p>I spoke with both BEIS Ministers, the Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP and Nadhim Zahawi MP over the summer and we will continue to explore all avenues in support of advancing this technology in Northern Ireland.</p><p> </p>

It is also the centenary of the United Kingdom as we know it today and hence of importance to every part of our country.</p><p> </p><p>It presents a unique opportunity to boost the economy as we promote Northern Ireland as an attractive place to live, visit and do business.</p><p> </p><p>We have provided £3m of funding to mark the centenary, including a £1m Shared History Fund to support the engagement of a wide range of arts, heritage and community groups. star this property answer text <p>Northern Ireland Office Ministers have engaged extensively and regularly with Northern Ireland business representatives and businesses through a programme of business roundtable events; individual business engagements; and webinars to inform the UK Government response to Covid-19 and economic recovery in Northern Ireland. When Covid restrictions have allowed, we have also visited Northern Ireland businesses to hear first-hand their experience and the experience of employees at this challenging time.</p><p> </p><p>This Government will do everything it can to help people and businesses through this extraordinary time and businesses in Northern Ireland will continue to benefit from the Furlough Scheme, VAT reductions and the extension of bounce back loans, which have all been extended to the end of March 2021.</p><p> </p><p>Businesses in Northern Ireland have always exhibited a tremendous resilience and ability to bounce back from adversity, and I have been impressed by their resilience and adaptability through this crisis. We will continue to work closely with businesses, with the Northern Ireland Executive and other local partners to get the Northern Ireland economy back up and running, to lay the foundations for economic growth and to seize the opportunities ahead.</p><p> </p>
