unstar this property answer text <p>Like all Departments the Northern Ireland Office is planning for a number of EU Exit scenarios to make sure we are ready on Day 1. EU Exit affects a number of work areas across the Department and will therefore encompass a proportion of workload for staff, the amount of which will vary over time.</p><p> </p><p>Over £250m of additional funding has been approved across a number of Departments in 2017/18 to prepare for Brexit. The Northern Ireland Office has received additional funding this year, and has reprioritised to meet new pressures arising from Brexit preparations. Additional funding received from the reserve for 2017/18 will be set out at Supplementary Estimates. Decisions on funding in future years will be confirmed at a later date.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Our objective has always been to have a functioning statute book in place by Exit Day and to ensure that the most critical secondary legislation was made by this point. This objective was achieved, so the question of reprioritisation has not arisen.</p><p> </p><p>The Northern Ireland Office had one SI required to correct a deficiency for EU Exit, the Flags (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019, which were approved by Parliament on 3 April 2019. The Regulations will be made post-Exit day.</p> more like this

This breaks down as:</p><p> </p><p>£412m of additional funding over the spending review period for the Department for Exiting the European Union, Department for International Trade and the Foreign &amp; Commonwealth Office at Autumn Statement 2016.</p><p> </p><p>£286m of additional funding for 17/18 (a full breakdown of which can be found in Supplementary Estimates 17/18).</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/679738/PU2137_Supplementary_estimates_web.pdf" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/679738/PU2137_Supplementary_estimates_web.pdf</a></p><p> </p><p>Over £1.5bn of additional funding for 18/19. unstar this property answer text <p>With regards to how many FTE staff hours were dedicated to the compilation, the Northern Ireland office does not hold this information in the form requested.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Exiting the European Union has satisfied the motion passed in the House of Commons by bringing together information for these reports. The Committee on Exiting the EU voted on Wednesday 6 December that the Government’s response to the resolution of the House of 1 November has complied with the terms of that resolution.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The European Union (Withdrawal) Bill will convert European Union law into UK law as it applies in the UK at the moment of exit. This will ensure that, wherever possible, the same rules and laws will apply the day after exit as they did before.</p><p>The Government is still making a detailed assessment of what corrections will be required to make that law function appropriately on exit day. The Government’s current estimate is that we will need to make between 800 and 1,000 statutory instruments to make exit a reality in UK law.</p> more like this
