unstar this property answer text <p>The Northern Ireland Office (NIO) has the following arrangements in place:</p><p>a) The NIO does not have its own disability networks, but works with the Ministry of Justice to ensure our staff have access to the MOJ’s well established networks;</p><p>b) We are in receipt of the Disability Confident leader status following our submission to be accredited in 2018;</p><p>c) Requests for reasonable adjustments are implemented wherever possible, reasonable and practicable. The NIO also supports Workplace Adjustment Passports;</p><p>d) All staff have a right to submit a request for flexible working regardless of their length of service, and this is offered to all new starters. Where possible, the requests are accommodated, such as through providing term-time working, compressed hours, or 9-day fortnights.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Any returns by the Northern Ireland Executive to the Treasury are undertaken at Block Grant level not by individual departments. Since 2016, the Executive’s underspends have been largely in two areas: ring-fenced Resource DEL and Financial Transactions Capital.</p><p> </p><p>Budget exchange is a mechanism that allows the Executive to carry forward a forecast DEL underspend from one year to the next, within previously agreed limits and with the consent of Treasury Ministers. Since 2016, the total amount of underspend for each year which cannot be accessed via Budget Exchange for the following year is:</p><p> </p><p><strong>2016/17: </strong>£130.9m<strong> </strong></p><p><strong>2017/18: </strong>£210.1m<strong> </strong></p><p><strong>2018/19: </strong>£254.9m<strong> </strong></p><p><strong>2019/20: </strong>£207m<strong> </strong></p><p><strong>2020/21: </strong>£426.7m</p><p> </p><p>The amount unused in 2020/21 includes £373.3m that had been earmarked for student loan impairments, which did not materialise.</p><p> </p><p>The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland engages with the Chancellor and Treasury Ministers on a regular basis in relation to Northern Ireland’s public finances and wider economy, as well as with the First Minister and deputy First Minister. The Executive’s finances are also reported on by the independent Fiscal Council.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

unstar this property answer text <p>The Government remains fully committed to supporting veterans living in Northern Ireland and continuing to build on the good progress in delivering the Armed Forces Covenant and Veterans Strategy. We are delivering on the Government’s commitments made in the New Decade, New Approach agreement, in particular, to ensure that Northern Ireland veterans are treated similarly to their counterparts across the UK.</p><p> </p><p>My Department established and sponsors the Northern Ireland Veterans Commissioner’s Office, which advocates for and assists veterans as they navigate services such as health and social care.</p><p> </p><p>Arrangements for service delivery in Northern Ireland are slightly different from those in other parts of the UK. We are a small department, with a low carbon footprint arising from our accommodation and corporate travel requirements, and we choose to act sustainably when conducting every part of our business. As an example, we are taking steps to reduce our carbon emissions by utilising technology to enable virtual meetings rather than staff flying short haul between London and Belfast to attend all meetings face to face.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Secretary of State and I are working closely with our colleagues in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities on the design and delivery of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Northern Ireland. The Fund will make available a mixture of both revenue and capital funding to invest in local priority projects.</p><p> </p><p>The funding will be allocated by formula rather than by competition, and the Government has pledged that it will at least match EU receipts. All allocations will be conditional on Government approval of investment plans. More detail on the allocation formula, including local allocations, will be made available in due course.</p><p> </p> more like this

Member to the answer given to <a href="https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questions/detail/2021-10-19/58831" target="_blank">PQ58831</a> on 27 October 2021.</p><p> </p><p>The Government Property Agency (GPA) acts as a landlord to government department clients, including Cabinet Office, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Department for International Trade, the Department for Education and others.</p><p> </p><p>GPA has started a Net Zero Offices Programme, which seeks to remove fossil fuel boilers (where they have reached end of economic life) and replace them with more environmental forms of heating such as use of air source heat pumps and, in the case of the Whitehall District Heating System, the utilisation of ground source heat pumps. The Net Zero Offices Programmes is seeking funding for its heat decarbonisation projects through applications to the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.</p> more like this
